Another option is a stall shower curtain.  It will block most of the water from coming out of the shower and on to the floor and walls. You do, however, want to have them protected if at all possible.  There is no guarantee that they are not going to get wet.  A stall curtain is definitely the most economical way to go if you have the shower surroundings taken care of.  If something happens to the curtain, they are also inexpensive to replace.  The curtain will also help the privacy issue as long as you don’t go with a clear color.
